Description

IDT-1001UHF-GEN2+C(UID) - RFID card with UHF EPC-GEN2 chip - 860-960 MHz

RFID-based systems guarantee the highest level of security. Essential accessories for these access control systems include proximity RFID cards, key fobs, and wristbands.

The IDT-1001MF/UHF is a thinner proximity RFID card designed for 13.56MHz MIFARE and 860-960MHz UHF readers. Its compact size makes it easy to store in a wallet or document holder. Like other MIFARE cards, the code is not printed on the card. Its use is straightforward: holding it a few centimeters from the reader's antenna activates the reader's relay.

The UHF (Ultra High Frequency) technology offers a significant advantage due to its higher frequency, enabling a much greater reading distance. With UHF-compatible readers, the cards can be read from 6 to 12 meters away, depending on the reader, settings, and installation environment. However, there are some important considerations regarding such systems:

  • Interference and Regulations: High-frequency signals can interfere with other services, such as mobile networks, and, to a lesser extent, may have health implications. While regulations on allowed frequency ranges are more relaxed in some regions, like the United States, Europe imposes stricter limitations. Permitted frequency ranges vary by country, and detailed information can be found in the reader's datasheet.
  • Shielding by Metal and the Human Body: Both metal and the human body can significantly block UHF signals, affecting the performance of both cards and readers. When designing the system, ensure that neither the readers nor the cards (or tags) are placed near metal objects (except for the reader's mounting brackets). Similarly, avoid using the cards while held in users' hands.
  • Reader Orientation: Proper reader alignment is critical, as the maximum reading distance is achieved directly in front of the reader.

By taking these factors into account, UHF technology can be utilized effectively to achieve enhanced reading distances and system performance.
